Around 2008, the idea for nuspeek was first tossed around between some old friends over coffee on our daily pit-stop before work. It was born out of the frustration we were feeling about the political divide in the USA. While our perspectives admittely are of the left/libertarian sort, it became clear that the system itself was no longer in the hands of the population who it was intended to serve.
The idea rose that if we look at our political system from the perspective of how it operates as a power mechanism, instead of through the lens of party philosophy, the sickness it suffers from stems from fundamental problems that people of any partisan direction could agree on.
For example, fraud in elections, lobbyists writing bills, and media collusion in fortifying certain political power centers are all things that contribute to the rampant corruption the system suffers from... and everyone suffers for it, not just people who prefer a particular party. This isn't a hugely novel idea we came up with, but the more we thought about it, the more we realized that there is room to pool ideas that might address the critical political process problems that impact our system "before" partisan issues really matter.
There are so many broken political processes that undermine the very function of our republic, and if we focus on those instead of the things we typically are fighting against each other about, we can create huge change that benefits everyone... maybe bringing some people together across the political divide at the same time.
Our purpose is to come up with the ideas and necessary momentum to fix our broken system. This isn't a place to wage democrat vs. republican fights. We enjoy those in other places. Our goal here is about exposing corruption, and trying to figure out some ways that we can fix it.
8 years ago, our momentum fizzled out before we launched anything... and here we are in the same inspiring political mess once again. This time, we don't want to just sit and watch, we want to act. Are you interested in helping look for solutions? Contact us!
